Skoda Superb vs Porsche 911 Turbo: sleeper against supercar drag race
October 09, 2024 by Jamie Edkins
When you have a 996 Porsche 911 Turbo S, you naturally think to drag race it against a Skoda, right? Well perhaps this wouldn’t be your first thought, but we’ve got a pretty special Superb Estate here which could give this 2000s supercar a run for its money.
It’s been heavily tuned and modified by RE Performance to be the ultimate sleeper, giving it the appearance of a non-descript family wagon while offering blistering performance. Let’s take a closer look at the stats.
Skoda Superb Estate sleeper
As standard, the Skoda Superb has a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine which puts out 280hp and 350Nm of torque. This one however has an uprated Garrett turbocharger, new intercooler system and racing spark plugs.
These changes have upped the power to 471hp and 661Nm of torque, which is channelled to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It also weighs the same as a standard Superb Estate, clocking in at 1,670kg.

Let’s step back in time to the early 2000s with the 996 Porsche 911 Turbo S. This was an absolute rocketship in its day, and it still stands up over 20 years later. Slung out over the rear wheels is a 3.6-litre twin-turbocharged flat six engine with 450hp and 650Nm of torque.
Like the Skoda this is sent to all four wheels, however the 911 has an old-school five-speed automatic gearbox which may hold it back. It’s only around 40kg lighter than the Skoda as well, so this will be a close race.
But which car will prove victorious? You’ll have to watch the video to find out…
