About Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo is one of the most famous Italian car makers. Founded in 1910, Alfa Romeo has a strong racing heritage and continues to make sporting, desirable cars today.

Success on road and track made Alfa Romeo’s reputation in the first half of the 20th century, but the company was in financial trouble by the 1970s. A takeover by Fiat in the 1980s put Alfa Romeo on a stronger financial footing.

Alfa Romeo was bought by Fiat in the 1980s. Both Italian brands are now part of the multi-national Stellantis group, which also includes Abarth and Lancia.
The five-year warranty was introduced to give buyers greater confidence in the quality and durability of Alfa Romeo cars. However, it would be wrong to pretend that an Alfa is as trouble-free as the best Lexus or Toyota models. The Stelvio SUV has a better reputation for reliability than the Giulia saloon. 
Yes. If you want a car with design flair and a heritage few other brands can match, then an Alfa Romeo makes a good buy. Ride comfort doesn’t tend to be a strong suit, though, and interior quality could be better.
No. As a rule, we’d recommend the equivalent BMW over one of Alfa Romeo’s current range, although it does vary from model to model. On the other hand, an Alfa Romeo is a much more distinctive, individual choice. If you don’t want the same car as everyone else, an Alfa Romeo will probably appeal more than a BMW.
It’s the heritage. Alfa Romeo has been building beautiful sporting cars for more than a century. Don’t forget, Ferrari started out as Alfa Romeo’s racing team. It doesn’t hurt that Alfa Romeo makes some of the best looking cars you can buy.
