Used Honda cars overview

Honda has long been all about quality — its cars have impressive reliability, and are often technologically advanced too. It’s a shame that so many of them are so ordinary to drive, though.

Popular used Honda models

Honda’s used car lineup runs from the sensible Civic and Jazz hatchbacks to the… also sensible CR-V and HR-V SUVs.

Used Honda Jazz

Definitely one of the safest bets for your used cash, the Jazz has been around in several forms since the early 2000s, and it’s always been reliable and roomy, if never quite exciting. Hugely practical, though, with rear seats that tip-up as well as fold-down.

Used Honda Civic

The latest Civic is more quietly styled than its predecessors, and now comes in hybrid form only. Expensive when new, but the economical hybrid engine makes up for the price premium, and it’s roomier and nicer to drive than the main alternative, the Toyota Corolla

Used Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V has been, at times, the world’s best-selling SUV and you can see why — it’s roomy, spectacularly well-made and reliable, and these days comes as a fuel-sipping plug-in hybrid model. Not thrilling, but very satisfying.

Used Honda HR-V

The HR-V — another Honda badge that dates back many decades — is a small-ish SUV with hybrid-only power that challenges the likes of the Toyota C-HR and Renault Captur. It’s roomy in the cabin, but small in the boot, and while it will be hugely reliable, you’ll never love driving it.

Used Honda e

The Honda e is probably the cutest electric car yet, even with the Fiat 500e on the scene. It has an astonishing full-width digital dashboard and cameras for door mirrors, and looks like it was designed for an Anime cartoon series. It’s even good fun to drive, but hamstrung by a small battery that often means a usable range of less than 100 miles.

Honda used cars FAQs

Yes, they really are. Honda has a spectacular reputation for reliability, backed up by the fact that in the most recent Driver Power customer satisfaction survey, only 13% of Honda owners reported faults with their car. Honda finished 11th out of 32 brands as one of the best to buy.

If you need lots of space, then the CR-V is the best Honda to buy, and it’s almost classy enough to take on the likes of Audi and BMW. Overall, though, the best Honda is the Civic which is roomy inside, exceptionally economical, and good fun to drive.
