Used Peugeot cars overview

Peugeot is one of the oldest names in motoring, with a history that goes all the way back to the 19th Century. Believe it or not, Peugeot made coffee grinders, bicycles and steam-powered trikes before making its first four-wheeler.

Today, Peugeot cars stand out for their striking design, and the variety of power sources. Peugeot has enthusiastically embraced hybrid and fully electric technology, and these high-tech models are now readily available on the used market. If electrification isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of Peugeots to choose from with petrol and diesel engines.

There are used Peugeot cars available to suit many different needs and budgets. From tiny city cars like the 107, to modern small cars like the 208, all the way up to large SUVs like the 5008, the range is broad.

Go back a few years and Peugeot tended to finish towards the bottom half of reliability surveys. In more recent years the cars have become more dependable, and the brand is now usually a mid-field finisher. Don’t expect the iron-clad durability of a Toyota, but you’ll be unlucky if a recent used Peugeot gives you serious trouble.

The standard new car warranty lasts for three years or 60,000 miles. If you buy an electric Peugeot, the high-voltage battery lasts for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Peugeot runs an approved used scheme with a 12-month warranty is one of the benefits.

Popular used Peugeot models

Modern Peugeots combine head-turning style with lots of standard equipment. These are some of the most popular models:

Used Peugeot 208

The 208 is one of the best-looking small hatchbacks around. There’s a choice of fuel-sipping engines as well as a fully electric version. Some alternatives have more rear-seat space, though.

Used Peugeot 2008

The 2008 is Peugeot’s compact crossover, an alternative to the Renault Captur and Skoda Kamiq. It combines style and comfort, but other similar cars have more space in the back.

Used Peugeot 3008

With an upmarket cabin and a big boot, you get a lot of car for your money with a used Peugeot 3008. The hybrid model is very efficient, but the petrol versions are better value as second-hand buys.

Used Peugeot e-208

The fully electric version of Peugeot’s small hatchback, the e-208 is an alternative to the Renault Zoe. It scores over the Renault with a much better safety rating. The e-208’s range is up to 254 miles in official tests.

Used Peugeot e-2008

Under the skin, the e-2008 is closely related to the e-208 but it has more space inside for people and luggage. Fussy infotainment and cramped rear seats are the biggest drawbacks to a used e-2008.

FAQs

It depends on the car and its condition and price. But a Peugeot can make a good second-hand car. There are plenty around so you can afford to be fussy and find just what you want.

Peugeot’s reliability has improved in recent years. The brand tends to finish towards the middle of most durability and owner satisfaction tables.
